The Castello di Baia opens the exhibition 'La pittura della voce. L’alfabeto prima e dopo Cuma’

Until 30 June 2024, the Museo archeologico dei Campi Flegrei located in the Castello di Baia will offer the chance to explore the enthralling world of the alphabet and acknowledge its impact on cultural processes in ancient times.

The exhibition ‘La pittura della voce. L’alfabeto prima e dopo Cuma’ invites the audience to plunge into the very time when the alphabet arrived on the shores of Cumae, some 2700 years ago, brought as a dowry by people from Greece.

The exhibition investigates the evolution of society in ancient Italy through a series of objects from the most important Italian archaeological museums, bearing inscriptions of various kinds and written in different but closely interconnected alphabets.
